Deaf Links is a Tayside-wide charity supporting people who experience sensory loss, including those who are:

We provide a wide range of services, activities and learning opportunities for our community, including:

 

British Sign Language Accreditation

Deaf Links currently offer Signature-accredited BSL tutelage with qualified tutors at Levels 1 & 2. Our BSL courses are delivered by Deaf, native BSL users in order to provide the best learning experience.

Communication Services

Deaf Links operate a Communication Service, where you can book communication support for Deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind people. This may include BSL Interpreters, Electronic Notetakers, Lipspeakers and Deafblind Communication Guides.

Deaf and Deafblind Awareness Training

Our Awareness Training can be tailored to your needs from 2 hour workshops to courses accredited Signature and nationally recognised. This sessions will help you have a better understanding of d/Deaf people, their language and communication needs. It will help equip you with real strategies to be more inclusive of the d/Deaf community in your life and work and support the real inclusion of people in society.

Sensory Advocacy Services

Advocacy means having someone to support you and to help make sure your choices, views and rights are respected. Deaf Links offer a free, confidential advocacy service available to anyone who is Deaf, hard of hearing, deafened, deafblind or visually impaired. We will not make decisions for you, but help you to take control of the important decisions in your life.

Violence Against Deaf Women Project

In partnership with Angus Women's Aid, Dundee Women's Aid and Perth's Women's Aid, Deaf Links are committed to supporting d/Deaf women who have or are experiencing any form of abuse or coercive control.

Sensory Social Group

Deaf Links facilitate a sensory social group for the d/Deaf and sensory impaired community. We recognise there are lots of barriers to meaningful connection, so strive to provide a safe and supportive space for people to come together and enjoy each other's company.

Signing Choir

Deaf Links host a signing choir called Signed Songs R Us. Signed Songs R Us are a choir of Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people who come together  to translate songs into the beautiful, visual language of British Sign.

Charity Shop

Deaf Links operate the Tayside Deaf Hub charity shop based in the Wellgate Centre in Dundee City Centre. We accept all manners of donations and rely heavily on the support of volunteers. All profits go towards serving the d/Deaf and sensory impaired communities of Tayside via the Tayside Deaf Hub.

CommuniTAY Cafe & Supermarket

CommuniTAY Cafe & Supermarket was set up to support people in Tayside access essential items at a lower cost. Visit us in the Wellgate Shopping Centre or in Tayside Deaf Hub! We work with community partners and businesses in order to bring you provisisons at the lowest possible cost.
